New Board Members for the Santa Monica Mountains Fund
The Santa Monica Mountains Fund is delighted to welcome three new board members at the start of 2017. Jean Schmit is a visual artist who moved to the Santa Monica Mountains with her family over 20 years ago. Since then, with like-minded neighbors, she has been involved in efforts to protect and conserve the mountains. A second generation Angelino, Kim Kovacs has retired from her post as Executive Director of Federal Relations at UCLA where she oversaw the university’s interactions in Washington, D.C with government and higher education associations. She is interested in combining her professional experience with enjoyment of the natural side of LA to assist the Fund. Thomas Liu is a federal executive currently working at the US Bureau of Ocean Energy Management in Camarillo. He was previously a Presidential management Fellow and policy analyst for the White House Council on Environmental Quality and held the post of Chief of Concessions for Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks.
