The Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area is the largest urban national park in the United States?
It encompasses over 150,000 acres, extending from the Hollywood Bowl on the east to Point Mugu at its western end; and includes the beaches of Santa Monica and Malibu as well as the canyons and peaks extending north to Simi Valley.

Santa Monica
Mountains Education Consortium Mission
The Consortium’s mission is to create relevant
educational opportunities that will inspire a continuum of life-long
learning and encourage all peoples to understand and protect the natural and
cultural resources of this area and appreciate their global significance.
The Consortium is made up of more than 15 organizations
that present educational programming in the Santa Monica Mountains National
Recreation Area.
