10 week Native Plant Program starting next week!

Our 10 week series of horticulture training classes runs from December through February, and the first two classes begin this month, dates listed below:

December 4th - The Basics of California native plant gardening 12:30-2:30pm

December 18th - Easy California native plants for the garden 12:30pm - 2:00pm

Join us for an educational 2 hour tour of California native plants and how to grow them in your landscapes! The lecture will introduce the student to 15 basic native plant landscaping tips and techniques along with 15 commonly used native plants that even the worst gardener will have a hard time killing! The powerpoint presentation will also briefly cover basic irrigation, maintenance and horticultural techniques. Excellent for the beginning and intermediate gardener or landscaper (and it's free so it's not a waste of money!).

The class will be led by Antonio Sanchez, nursery manager and restoration volunteer coordinator for the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. Antonio has over 15 years experience growing and killing native plants in nurseries and landscapes, and led the nursery at California Botanic Garden in Claremont and was co-owner of Nopalito Native Plant Nursery in Ventura. In his spare time he enjoys listening to the native plant band Sage Against the Machine on Instagram.
