Raptor Perches installed in the mountains

Recently, the NPS has installed several twenty foot tall raptor perches at Paramount Ranch and Rancho Sierra Vista. The perches provide a place for hunting and encourage raptors to move into the area. As natural predators of the rodents which cause damage near National Park Service buildings, the presence of raptors reduce the need for anti-coagulant rodenticide in the area.

Owls and hawks have been spotted on some of the perches already which also allow for amazing birding photo opportunities!
