NPS and SAMO Fund Receive funds from settlement

The National Park Service (NPS) and Santa Monica Mountains Fund (SMMF) received a check for $100,000 from Ventura County District Attorney Erik Nazarenko for wildlife protection. These funds are part of a settlement to the County following the prosecution of Fruit Growers Supply, an agricultural retail company, that sold restricted pesticides to non-permitted users 317 times between January 1, 2019, and November 4, 2020.

SMMF will manage these funds so that NPS biologists can continue their wildlife conservation work in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.
