Samo Fund Field Crew Update

Time has flown by and the crew has been working super hard maintaining our trails and providing defensible space near structures for the last 13 weeks! This crew has been a reliable and crucial resource for trail maintenance this summer. They have learned quickly and perform to a high standard on the trail. Running a weedwhip for hours is not an easy feat, but the crew has an amazing attitude and provide lots of laughs during our breaks.

Major trail accomplishments include:

  • Brushed ~1.6 mi from the parking lot to Sandstone Peak

  • Brushed ~2.6 mi in Solstice, with more on the radar (includes some of the SC Trail, Rising Sun, TRW Loop, entrance road from gate, & parking lot)

  • Brushed the ~1.2 mi Grotto Trail & CX campground

  • Brushed the ~1.5 mi CX Canyon View Trail

  • Brushed ~2 miles of BBT from Mishe Mokwa parking lot to Triunfo Peak and ~1.4 mi in Corral Canyon

  • Hand tool trail work which includes redefining dip drains, addressing washouts, and tread repair on the Zuma Loop Trail and ZC Canyon View Trail

  • ~20 trashbags of litter collected from the sites we have visited!
