NPF 2023 Service Corps Grant

Have you heard the great news?! 

Santa Monica Mountains Fund and Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area are proud to announce that we were one of 31 organizations in the country to receive a National Park Foundation Service Corps grant this year. The grant helped implement the amazing SAMO Youth Program! 

The SAMO Youth Program provides employment experience and mentorship to diverse college students. The goals of the program are to create a rich work experience that 1) promotes an ethic for conservation and stewardship, 2) inspires students toward careers in public service, and 3) provides job experiences that produce competitive job skills.  

Our program introduces youth to the mission, goals, and work of the National Park Service. For the last 24 years, it has served local students and  helped them with advancing  in their careers. The SAMO Youth Program increases access and allows communities that have historically been excluded into the  National Park Service.
