Our Mission

The Fund advances its mission by supporting the National Park Service and California State Parks in areas such as education, scientific research, facility improvements, public engagement, environmental stewardship, and philanthropic initiatives.
Our History
Founded in 1988, SANTA MONICA MOUNTAINS FUND has a rich history dedicated to supporting education and resource protection within the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. Originally incorporated as the Santa Monica Mountains Parklands Association, our organization was created by passionate citizens committed to advocating for public interests in the development of parklands and recreational opportunities in these stunning mountains. Over the decades, we have evolved to become a vital force in promoting conservation and education in the region.
