At around 7am on March 23rd, mountain lion P-104 was hit and killed while crossing Pacific Coast Highway (PCH).
He was a sub-adult male who had only been collared by National Park Service two weeks previously as part of the 20-year study that is tracking mountain lions in the Santa Monica Mountains to determine how they survive in a fragmented and urbanized environment. Biologists say P-104 had crossed PCH several times in the last few days.
P-104 is the 25th mountain lion, and 8th collared mountain lion to be killed by a vehicle since the study began in 2002.
