SAMO YOUTH ASSISTANT CREW LEADER-DRIVER - SAMO FUnd
We are currently recruiting for a SAMO Youth Crew Leader for the upcoming season. Applicants must have experience and a strong desire to mentor a diverse group of youth. This position will be responsible for the safe operation of a work truck to transport tools and supplies and/or 12 Passenger Van to transport participants to and from worksites. They will lead, mentor, co-manage, and participate in the day-to-day details of work projects. Must have a clean driving record and a current CA Driver’s License.
This position is for 6-12 months, but may be extended if work projects and funding become available. Part-Time to Full-Time, dependent on work assignments. START DATE: Mid to late February. Native Seed Conservation Internship
This internship is aimed to allow participants to explore and learn about varying aspects of conservation and restoration with Southern California native plants. This project will hire four paid interns to support the initial stages of a Native Seed Production Site for the National Park Service. The Seed Production Site will provide Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area with large quantities of seed materials for implementing large scale restoration across the mountains.
This internship will run for two 13-week sessions from March 7, 2024, to June 1, 2024 and May 2, 2024 to July 27, 2024.

Native Milkweed and Monarch Project Technician
Santa Monica Mountains Fund (SAMO Fund) is looking to hire 2 seasonal, part-time project technicians to aid with the planning, implementation and maintenance of an ambitious new native milkweed and Monarch butterfly project in and around the Santa Monica Mountains. Employment will consist of 24 hours of work a week, beginning in April or May, 2024 and going through November or December, 2024. Most or all of the work days will take place Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with some flexibility.
Applications will be accepted from January 24th, 2024 to April 15th, 2024, or until the positions are filled. Interviews will be conducted beginning in February, on a rolling basis, until positions are filled.

Native Plant Program Volunteer (No stipend offered)
This volunteer internship is designed to allow participants to explore a variety of aspects within Southern California native plant restoration. Volunteer interns will gain experience working in a variety of plant communities including southern oak woodland, coastal sage scrub, grassland, riparian woodland, chaparral, and more. Volunteer interns will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of restoration duties.
Participants can commit any of 1-3 days between Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 7am-3:30pm. Volunteer internships begin on May 2, 2024 and June 27, 2024 and may last as little as 8 weeks, or continue for 18-26 weeks. Length of position can be dictated by the participant and is flexible.

Native Plant Horticulture Intern (San Fernando Valley Resident)
SAMO fund is looking for one part-time native plant horticulture intern from the San Fernando Valley. This unique internship will allow the participant to gain valuable hands-on native plant horticultural experience in and around the Santa Monica Mountains. The internship will consist of 2 days (16-20 hours) of work a week, beginning in April 2024 and going through September 2024. Most or all of the work days will take place Thursdays, Fridays and/ or Saturdays, with some flexibility.
Experience with California native plants is not necessary, but a strong desire to learn about native plant landscaping, horticulture, propagation and restoration techniques is preferred. Candidates must reside in the San Fernando Valley. The ideal candidate will be able to work alone or with a group of co-workers, interns and other native plant enthusiasts to accomplish multiple goals.
